About Karin

I grew up on a farm in Bruce County and studied fine art at the University of Guelph. Having participated in a year-long Rotary exchange to France in high school, I continued my French studies and studied in Paris for a semester in my third year of university and there, I found great inspiration for the arts.  I began my career in 1995 teaching "l'art visuel" commuting to Lawrence Park Collegiate in Toronto, however after the birth of my first child, I wanted to work locally and consequently was fortunate to have taught at two Guelph high schools. I have recently retired and am looking forward to exploring new approaches in my art.  I have been exhibiting my lath artworks for ten years in various juried gallery exhibits and outdoor art shows and I continue to work in my studio at home on both commissions and evolving my approaches to drawing on plaster and lath. My husband is a local builder and has been able to fortunately source out a solid amount of lath to keep me busy, however I am always open to collecting more; please email me if you are interested in a lath pick up.
